Fish Wars

Hundreds of fish decals are being seen each day on cars. The main displays of the fish are the Darwin fish and the Jesus fish. One other is the Truth fish eating a Darwin fish. Each decal symbolizes opposing beliefs. These beliefs have been causing worldwide controversy for years. Creationism versus Evolution is the big debate. Proponents of each theory refuse to believe that the two can possibly coexist, Thus causing an all out fish warfare.

The fish warfare began with a simple Christian expression of faith. This expression is the symbol of the fish. Often times, the fish is seen containing the word Jesus or perhaps with the Greek letters IXOYE which represents “Jesus Christ God’s Son and Savior.” The reason the symbol of the fish is such a strong expression of faith has to do with the early Christians. The early Christians used the fish as a communication tool in order to avoid persecution by the Romans. Upon meeting a stranger, the Christian would draw an arc of the fish. If this stranger was a Christian then they would complete the fish with another arc. This allowed them to either discuss matters of Christianity or avoid the topic without fear of persecution. Since the era of Jesus, the fish symbol has continued to be regarded as a Christian expression of faith, only with additional meaning. This is the theory of Creationism.

The advocates of Creationism believe God created earth and everything in it. They think that without him nothing would have been made. Creationists think that if it was not said in the bible then it did not happen. They completely refute the idea of evolution. What the Creationists are trying to say is that they are the fittest and more correct in their beliefs. Neither the Creationists nor the Evolutionists believe in coexisting. There is a fish war.

There is no need for this war. Coexistence is possible and the two are compatible. First of all, Creationism and Evolution are theories. Both of which require an enormous leap of faith. Without religion, all that you see is all you have and if that is the case then there is no point. There is not understanding of why we are here or where are we going. Another thing is why would we live harmoniously here on earth and be moral and good. It would be much easier to be bad. Another thing is that without science you would not know as much about religion as we do. Therefore, if you believe in one theory then it does not make sense not to believe in the other. Another outlook is that if God created everything and evolution is a falsity then it does make sense that there is evidence of evolution in the form of fossils.
